Apothecary Jar - Tr. Guaiaci
Guaiac is obtained from the resin of the wood of Guaiacum officinale and used as a remedy in rheumatism. Guaiac was found later to be very useful in modern medicine to detect occult blood. Usually available as "Tr. Guaiaci", meaning Tincture of Guaic.
This jar is handpainted using underglazes on porcelain. The design is consistent with those found on 19th century apothecary jars. The terminology used is what would have been found on apothecary jars of the era.
Size:1 7/16" (36mm) tall by 1/2" (12mm) wide.
